Darryl Adams Superintendent, Coachella Valley Unified School District Dr. Darryl Adams has spent 28 years as an educator with the goal of preparing students for College, Career and Citizenship! He started his career in education as a Music Teacher, Band Director, High School Principal and now Superintendent. Under Dr. Adams’ leadership, voters in the Coachella Valley Unified School District approved Measure X, a bond initiative that provides $42 million dollars for the district's digital conversion. The funds allowed the district to place an iPad in the hands of every student from pre-school through high school and also allowed the district to build a state of the art broadband internet system. Dr. Adams was a Los Angeles Teacher of the Year and in 2014, he was selected by the Obama administration as one of the Top 100 Innovative Superintendents in America and was praised by President Obama for leading the way in ensuring students have equity and access to technology and the Internet. Most recently, Dr. Adams has been named by the Center for Digital Education as one of the Top 30 Technologists, Transformers & Trailblazers in America. Dr. Adams’ Wifi-on-Wheels program, which places wifi routers on school buses and then places them in neighborhoods where there is no connectivity, has been lauded by President Obama and is now being replicated all over the nation. Dr. Adams’ next goal is to have his school district be the first in the nation to become its own self provisioning Internet service provider thus become Internet Independent!
